Molly Dooker Boxer - $19.99 Australian for “left-hander,” this Molly Ducker is an incredibly powerful and complex Shiraz with sweet fruit and lovely structural tannin. Made more complex by combining the regional flavors of grapes from McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek and Padthaway, this wine has incredible power and purity. It was awarded 93 points by the Wine Advocate and 90 points by the Wine Spectator and was chosen as one of the “Editor’s Most Exciting New Wines.” A terrific wine and excellent bargain.
Ferrari-Carano Chardonnay – $19.99 This Alexander Valley Chardonnay is a delicious wine with floral and fruit aromas of orange blossom, citrus, pears, figs, green apple, and a hint of toasted marshmallow and caramel. Generous on the palate, creamy vanilla undertones balance layers of toast and spice on the finish. Perfect with rich foods, like lobster, scallops, salmon, chicken, pork, turkey, veal, or pungent cheeses.
Seghesio Sonoma Zinfandel - $24.99 Spicy undertones and a vibrant display of acidity enhances the briary raspberry and blackberry expression in this extraordinary old vine zinfandel. Perfect with red sauces, barbecue, spicy cuisine, and rich meats.
Daniel Gehrs Central Coast Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 - $ 11.99 This customer-favorite has been marked-down from $14.99. It is the product of two cool climate vineyards, each noted for a Bordeaux-style wine that is sleek, well-colored, well-balanced and great at the table with good food. This vintage produced sturdy, age-worthy red wines deserving of the patient cellaring which this wine has received; over two years old at time of bottling. Barrel aging added a touch of nutmeg and allspice to the primary fruit aromas of cassis and blackberries. Deeply flavored with good acidity, smooth tannins and a bright finish. This is a great bargain.
Chateau Greysac Medoc - $16.99 This outstanding wine from the Medoc region of Bordeaux is medium bodied and fruity with mild tannins upon release. It gains complexity with age but usually reaches maturity within 5 years. An excellent complement to pork, duck and lamb. A terrific buy – to enjoy now or during the next few years!
Chateau Larose Trintaudon - $16.99 This affordable Bordeaux is a very dark reddish-purple wine with a clear garnet edge. Its aromas of blackcurrant and leather are characteristic of Bordeaux, and the flavors are typical of the region: Black fruit and earth follow the nose, with medium body, crisp acidity and soft tannins to build a food-friendly structure. Rare beef or lamb will pair perfectly with this wine.
Clayhouse Adobe Red - $11.99 Another customer favorite – this wine is a proprietary blend with ripe flavors of cherry, plum and vanilla bean, with rich spicy blueberry and cherry notes. The tannins are supple, and the balanced oak character adds an additional vanilla note.
Jean Pabiot & Fils Sancerre - $17.99 This refreshing white – built exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc grapes – boasts an engaging nose of exotic (pineapple, white peach, passion fruit) and citrus fruits. The structure is elegant, with exceptional balance and freshness. A terrific value.
Qupe Syrah - $15.99 This “91 point” beauty is an artful blend of cool-climate Santa Barbara grapes and warm-climate Paso Robles grapes. The cool-climate fruit gives spice, acidity and balanced alcohol while the warm-climate fruit give softness, roundness, ripeness and more up-front fruit flavors and aromas. You must try this exceptional (and bargain-priced) wine.
Finca Luzon Jumilla - $8.99 The incredible value from Spain, rated by Wine Enthusiast Magazine at 90 points, was said to deliver “huge plum and spice notes, with tobacco, herbs and smoked meat working their way into the game. Remains powerfully fruity and spicy in the mouth, with a long, minty, medicinal finish. Competes with thousands of wines priced higher. Overdelivers by a lot!"
